I was standing at the bus stop, leaning against the pole with Jiwon nestled in my arms. It had been a long, draining day, but the cool night air felt refreshing against my skin. The fog wrapped around us like a ghostly blanket, and the faint glow of the streetlights cast flickering shadows on the empty road.
Jiwon squirmed slightly, her tiny hands grabbing at my coat as her eyes darted curiously around. I smiled at her, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. “You like the cold, don’t you, princess?” I murmured, her giggle the only answer I needed.
